Colleen Muchowski, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Director of Couples and Family Counseling

Colleen is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a specialization in school social work. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, working with clients who have been impacted by traumatic life experiences, and a certified drug and alcohol counselor (CDAC). Prior to joining Oak Park Behavioral Medicine, Colleen worked in therapeutic day schools and private practice.

Colleen sees her role as helping clients of all ages learn to cope with the troubling events in their lives, find their individual strengths, and achieve their personal goals, including while living with a chronic medical illness. Her approach is engaging and calm, meeting clients where they are at and take things at a pace they are comfortable with. She uses solution based approaches, as well as dialectal behavioral therapy and cognitive therapy and believes everyone is different and no one approach works for all clients. As such, Colleen will base her approach on your specific needs as well as personality; she utilizes play therapy techniques when beneficial to the client and age appropriate.

Colleen works with families, couples and individuals of all ages. Her areas of clinical interest are focused on anxiety and depression, parenting, relationship stress, infertility, chronic medical illness, stress, anger management, self-esteem and peer relationships.
